The most widespread and versatile species on Fromurth, found all over Karnarass, from the cold northern mountains to the lush southern coasts. Gaians originate from Gaia, their ancestral homeworld. They are your typical humans, thriving in diverse environments due to their adaptability and ingenuity.
The Elvarin are an evolved branch of the Gaian race, shaped over millennia by their deep, natural connection to the arcane forces of Fromurth. Unlike other species who must study or harness magic through external means, the Elvarin wield it instinctively, their affinity woven into their very being. This innate power grants them extended lifespans and effortless magical control. They are known for their ethereal appearance; glowing eyes, subtly elongated ears, and faintly bioluminescent markings that shimmer with the essence of their magic. Like their Gaian kin, the Elvarin originated from Gaia.
However, their power came at a price. Feared and coveted, they became targets of dark forces seeking to enslave them, driving the Elvarin to the brink of extinction. In a desperate bid for survival, they forged pacts with noble martial families sworn to defend them. Yet, most of these guardians fell, leaving only two noble houses standing and a scattered brotherhood of warriors known affectionately as The Fallen.
A sturdy Gaian subspecies adapted to life in mountainous and underground environments. Known for their exceptional craftsmanship and mining skills, Ironvein Dwarves have skin tones ranging from deep bronze to ash gray, with beards often braided with metal trinkets. Common in the northern and central mountains of Karnarass.
Mythralin Dwarves
A magical offshoot of Ironvein Dwarves, Mythralin Dwarves are descended from Elvarin influences. They can channel magic through metals and gemstones. Mythralin Dwarves are reclusive and deeply spiritual, blending mining with arcane rituals. They view their magical affinity as a sacred gift and often take on roles as magical smiths and enchanters. They are extremely rare, not as much as Elvarin with a population over 1000. They are often found in hidden enclaves within the mountains.
Native to Fromurth, Beastens are Anthropomorphic animals. They are sentient creatures who walk on two legs and have full use of their hands. Based on their ancestry, Beastens exhibit diverse animal traits (e.g., wolves, lions, reptiles). They have a tribal structure with strong ties to nature. They live harmoniously with the environment and hold deep respect for the spirits of the land. Clans often align with the animal they resemble.

Insectoid Beastens, the Thrixal are mysterious creatures believed to inhabit the underworld and isolated islands. Their insect traits vary widely (e.g., exoskeletons, compound eyes, wings). Thrixal society is hive-based, with roles strictly divided among workers, warriors, and queens. Insular and alien, their society revolves around survival and expansion. Thrixal rarely interacts with surface dwellers, and reports of their existence are often met with scepticism.
Avian Beastens, the Nyarith are avian humanoids with wings, feathers, and sharp vision. They exhibit a wide range of appearances based on bird species, from hawk-like predators to colourful parrot-like individuals. Nyarith are nomadic by nature, forming roosting settlements in cliffs and tall trees. They value freedom and individuality but also exhibit strong communal bonds during mating seasons and migration. They are found mainly in the Northern regions of Karnarass and its islands.
Vetharim, Demi-Human, the offspring of Gaians and Beastens. They possess distinct animalistic traits such as ears, tails, or fur, blending human and animal features. They are seen as a bridge between the two cultures but often face prejudice and exclusion from both sides. Most Vetharim live in border regions or form their own insular communities, striving to carve out a space where they belong.
Despite these challenges, wealth and scholarly achievement can elevate certain Vetharim, granting them recognition and a degree of acceptance. Rich merchants, Noble knights, renowned academics, or those who achieve prominence in magic or science are often admired, their mixed heritage viewed as a unique strength rather than a disadvantage. These individuals serve as rare symbols of hope and possibility for their kin, embodying the potential of a harmonious union between Gaian and Beasten legacies.
