It’s based on an alternative version of the real world where magic and mythological elements exist. The world is set at the year 100 AR (After cataclysm). People of the Mediterranean Sea lived in a feudal state on every island and land ruled by a local power. Those states are raging war against each other to take control over a city-state named Nova Roma, because of a secret she held.
Nova Roma is a city-state built around the Roman legacy. The Immortal King and his followers built it. It is populated by refugees from other regions, which led the city to political instability. Which forced her Immortal king to step out of power and let people rule by themselves.
This server story takes place in a remodelled world, different from the world today, a world like we can imagine in the odyssey. With locations and places similar to ours.
In 69 BC, during the dusk era of the Imperial Republic of Rome. An exceptional eclipse covered all the planet, drowning the world at night. Some reported that it lasted hours, others said weeks. Letting only a fire ring in the dark sky. The silence of this night filled the world with the crackling of the earthquake, a roaring blaze of emerging magma coming out of the earth’s bowel, and screams of hopeless people.
What looked like an eternal night ends, eventually; A soft glow similar to the sun showed up from the east. Sadly, it wasn’t the sun, but an explosion of light energy that covered all the earth with a rain of glass-looking objects, like crystals. The biggest chunk falls into a place where the City of Nova Roma was built. The crystal created a Dome Covering the city and bringing the sun back, meanwhile outside the city was still dark.
No one inside the city knows what’s happened outside the city for years. But there were reports about other parts of crystals falling in other parts of the world. Reports say that some of them aren’t human any more, their skins aren’t fair nor black, but some shade of gray. Some people fusion with animals. Some of those people are still sane and made communities, cities, and kingdoms to protect each other from people who lost their sanity. And they developed some new magical abilities that the world never knew.
Years passed, and every new civilization studied those crystals and gathering their force against the insane people who transform into monsters and attack the nearby cities. No one was saved from those monsters, even the new Romans, who could wipe those monstrosities out of their peninsula. But Roman scholars made a mistake that cost them their life. They find out that those crystals had teleportation properties that use it to colonize every place where those crystals are located, but resistance from the other nations who pushed them to the capital where they established a large siege stopped them. The siege of Rome ended when the king stepped down from the throne and offered the remaining of his kingdom to other nations equally.
Located on an isolated island to the east of Nova Rome and south of the Spartan Republic, the city state now known as Minos has a dark tale of how it came into being. A tale steeped in bloodshed and sacrifice, of savage carnage that that would drive sailors mad from the sounds coming from the island.
It is said that they the Minoans are cursed by King Minos himself, that from his domain in the underworld he judged their souls and found them lacking in humanity so he stripped them of it cursing them to live their lives as more beast than man. In truth what had happened on the island was far worse than any tale.
Upon the event known as the Crystal Cataclysm a large shard of crystal landed on the isle and from that the madness came. In moments man turned into beast and beast in man, seeing what they had become, the creatures they now had now become they fell into a deep sadness and rage that tore the island apart. It was a time before whatever power struggle that was happening ended and some sort of order was established.
Finding themselves separated into tribes of others like them they did little to help one another. But a new leader came to rise and bound the new people together in a shared goal of a better life than the one they were living. That from the ashes of their old lives the now Minoans would rebuilding what was once lost and started anew, united together in a common goal the Minoans built a new capital city named after the king who cursed them.
Minoans
The people of Minos may look varied, but they are one of the closets communities known. All Minoans see each other as brothers and sisters and even though they may fight amongst themselves sometimes they will always defend one another to the last.
It is of no surprise that the people of Minos are loyal to their own kind but vary untrusting of other people and cultures. The most common depiction on items a Minoan will wear are of a pair of horns, this is not only the symbol of the city itself but also a clear veneration of the first of their kind. This symbol can be found on may pieces of jewellery and items of their faith. The main colours of Minos and the clothes worn by the people are red, black, and white.
Minoan Faith
With order restored and their new nation being built, it was not long before a brotherhood of priests came to be preaching of their newfound lives. Instead of sitting on sorrow for their newfound forms, they embraced it, seeing what others called a curse as a blessing.
They see King Minos as a saviour, gifting them a second chance of life and even preparing them for the new world that has come to be with the Crystal Cataclysm. Soon the small brotherhood turned into the maid religion in Minos and the shard of crystal that stood in the centre of the isle found itself being the focal point of their devotion.
The shard now has a temple built around it and is the maid place of worship for the new faith. In honour of their new patron the Minoan priests will often have sacrifices in King Minos’s name.
The most noted of which are the human sacrifices done in a similar manor to the old tales of the labyrinth, the priests will almost re-enact the many sacrifices of seven men and women to Minos’s Minotaur son, seeing him as the first of their kind and holding him up to the same level as others would a demigod.
They are the creation of Aphrodite or were created from clay by a coterie of Olympian gods over three thousand years before the cataclysm, to serve as messengers to the world in the name of peace and of Justice. For centuries, women have thrived in safety and security outside a hostile, male-dominated world. As long as the Amazons stay in Libya, they don't age. But after the event, they become more hostile toward men, some of them become abominations and others stay normal. Until the day of the twins, Spartacus and Athena declared a civil war and saved men and women who were against their anarchy.
During the days of ancient Greece, several centuries ago, the Amazons were the first nation in the world. In the Amazon, women ruled and all was well. Then one day, Hercules, the strongest man in the world, stung by the taunts that he couldn't conquer Amazonian women, selected his strongest and fiercest warriors and landed on the shores of the Amazons. The queen of the Amazons, Hippolytus, met Hercules in personal combat because she knew that with her magic belt, which Aphrodite, goddess of love had given her, she could not lose. Hippolytus defeated Hercules, but Hercules, with deception and cunning, managed to secure Hippolytus' magic belt - and soon the Amazons were taken into slavery. Aphrodite, angry with Hippolyte for having succumbed to the wiles of men, would do nothing to help them
Finally, the Amazons could no longer bear their submission to men, and Hippolyte again appealed to the goddess Aphrodite. This time not in vain, for she gave in, and with her help, Hippolyte obtained the magic belt of Hercules. With the magic belt in Hippolytus' possession, it didn't take long for the Amazons to defeat their masters - and taking their entire fleet from them, they embarked for another shore, as it was Aphrodite's condition to leave the world of men and establish a new world of their own. Aphrodite also decreed that they should always wear the heavy bracelets fashioned by their captors, as a reminder that they should always stay away from men.
